Russian constructivist sculptor Naum Gabo spoke on the occasion of an exhibition of his Constructions in Space.  Professor of Art Agnes Rindge, the gallery’s director, said, “This is designed to electrify students and startle the alumnae as far as possible…. The whole operation of Taylor Hall and the Art Department is designed to belong to the present day….  We believe that the history of art has continuity right up to 1938, in spite of the fact that the department obliges students to begin acquaintance with the subject nearly four thousand years ago.”       Vassar Alumnae Magazine
