Introduced on Matthew Vassar’s 219th birthday, April 29, 2011, A Documentary Chronicle of Vassar College was completed to the end of 2001 during the sesquicentennial year, 2011. It will continue by 10-year increments into the future.

1938, Sept. 21 Twelve large trees were uprooted, the Shakespeare Garden was flooded and 200 tons of coal washed out of the “coal pocket” behind Main, into Sunset Lake and out to the Hudson River when a tropical hurricane moved up the East Coast.
